SBR is not a pedestrian friendly road. The only sidewalks are from the Baptist church until past Eagle Ridge. Then there is a small section at the entrance of small development before 124th street. To get out of the way of approaching cars, you will sometimes find yourself in storm drains. Most of the road is outside Sultan city limits. Unfortunately most residents outside the city let their dogs roam around willy-nilly. It also appears that residents don't really care for people roaming the street. Let me tell you a little about my SBR adventure...
Right after I reached the inclination of my suburban-rural hike, I was accosted by two large mutts so I stood my ground, then cautiously continued on my up the road. Eventually the two dogs grew bored of me and terrorized the cows in the adjacent property. At the top were the road curves right I was met by yet another dog. This one growled at me so I stomped my foot and took a step towards him, he fled. I continued pass Splat-em sports (Paint-Ball designated property), and yet another dog! This one was much older and much meaner. This old dog darted out of the property at me and got within one foot of me before the owner yelled for the dog to come inside. I had feet and arms ready to defend myself just incase. This dog would pay if a single tooth found it's way into me. The owner retrieved her dog, glowered at me, then slamed the door. I guess she feels I have no business walking up the road. I was ready to turn back after this incident but went a little further to the last turn before Kellogg Lake Rd. I decided then to turn around and avoid any more unpleasantness down the road. On the descent I see that the old dog is out again. I cautiously walked to the opposite side of the street. The dog crossed to my side of the street behind me after I passed the house. I was more than ready to plant my foot up the dog's ass after it realized it's mistake and tried to flee home. But alas, the dog must of read my intentions because it did't growl, or come at me. So I had dropped down to the straight-away again on my way back home admiring the view and the countryside. Then some blue chevy truck rolled up in front of me and took a left on the side street. The mustash-mullet driver slowed down to a crawl and stared at me through his whole turn onto the road and beyond. WTF? I nodded to him and smirked waiting for his reaction. His face remained stone cold as he continued to stare. Finally he looked away and then drove off down the side road. I blew off the episode and continued down SBR. 5 minutes later I heard a car coming behind me so I moved into the storm drain to get out of the way. I glanced back.. It's that chevy again! The truck slows down when it approaches me, the lady in the passenger seat takes a picture of me and then the chevy speeds away down the road. I'm a little unnerved by this but make my way past the the first set of dogs that I encountered on my way up. They were still busy with those cows and notice me too late. Now I'm on the flat part of the road about 1/8 mile home, then this approaching BMW going up the hill slows down. Guess what? The lady in the back of the car takes a picture of me... Totally different car, different person! I'm now a little freaked out. Having this happen once is bad enought but twice within 20 minutes! I was happy just to get back home to the comforts of Eagle Ridge. I won't be going back up there any time soon.
